I was born in 1965 with no fingers on my left hand. My whole life no one has been able to explain why this was. Now I know. In 1965 this wasn’t heard of. The hospital didn’t want to let me go, they wanted to run tests and figure it out. As a child, I was made fun of and even my own parents didn’t think I could ever do anything. Today, I am a respiratory therapist. I had to invent a device to be able to intubate people because I couldn’t graduate without being able to.
I am uploading a picture of my hand.

Me too. Born in 1967 with ABS on my right hand. It’s good to finally know what the cause was. So many years and theories.
Hello, I was also born in 1965 with ABS on my left hand and club feet. Needed many surgeries, and casts on my legs for a few months, but then I could walk. I was told it was a “chromosome” thing all my life and didn’t research it myself and discover ABS until I was 45 (5 yrs ago in 2010). So, I never had children, thinking that “chromosome” things were inheritable and I didn’t want to pass this on to a child. I’m thankful for this forum, and the stories, it helps to know that you’re not alone in this 🙂 Good luck to you all !!!
Hi ! I was also born in 1965 with ABS on my right hand. Didn’t find out what it was until 1997 on Internet search. Very happy that you were able to figure out how to do things your way 🙂
