Baby Ferguson’s Story

I was just at 4 months gestation when they were unable to locate the heartbeat of our baby. The doctor had said the baby had died two weeks prior. We were devastated, to say the least. I had already had one miscarriage and couldn’t bear the thought of losing another baby. They were unable to determine why I miscarried the first time because I wasn’t that far along. This time after giving birth to our baby boy (we had not agreed on a name,

Baby Kaemmerer’s Story

My husband and I were so excited when we found out we were expecting a baby. We had waited so long to start this part of our life and all the pieces seem to be falling into place. My pregnancy was going very well no morning sickness, no unusual pain except every now and then I would have a shooting pain in my stomach, the doctors said the pain was normal in the first trimester and not to worry.

We were about 10 weeks along when we heard the baby’s heartbeat for the first time.

Braeden Scott’s Story

We found out in March that we would be expecting a baby on December 7, 2004. We had had a previous miscarriage, and this was an answer to our prayers. We had a relatively normal pregnancy. At the 18 week ultrasound the technician had found a cardio foci, but it was determined that it was completely benign. After that little scare, we were sure everything would be all right.

On December 3 (just 4 days until our due date) we were scheduled for a routine doctor appointment.

Chase’s Story

My name is Jenn and I was 25 years old when I excitedly anticipated the birth of my first dear baby. At 20 weeks of Pregnancy my doctor drew blood for one of those standard blood tests all expectant moms have done. My Doctor told me it was really not a big deal and that the results generally didn’t mean much for someone of my age. Well as it turns out, I was the exception. My results came back extremely skewed from the norm.

Ellie’s Story

In 1998 I found out I was expecting my first baby full of excitement and worries all was well until that day of my scan. Laid on the bed having my tummy scanned was when we knew something was wrong when the midwife left the room and came back with the consultant, it was then we were told the bad news that our baby had no chance of survival.

Due to amniotic bands my baby’s bowel was outside of her body and the abdomen wall had not formed along with parts of her brain been exposed we then had to make the heart breaking decision to terminate the pregnancy at 19 weeks.

Faith & Jeff’s ABS Story

My husband and I had been married for less than a year when I started to think I could be pregnant. Since it was the first time, I wasn’t sure; but, i took a pregnancy test, and it came back positive. When I told my husband, though, I was concerned. I remember saying “um, I’m pregnant, but don’t get too excited because I really feel like something’s wrong.” I had had some pains on one side of my abdomen, so I got a sonogram to make sure the pregnancy wasn’t tubal.

Gracie’s Story

I found out in November, three days before my husbands birthday, that I was pregnant with out first child. Scared and excited we began to plan on how to tell our parents that their first grandchild was on the way.

During the first several weeks of pregnancy everything seemed “normal”. I was sick in the mornings and hungry every second of the day. I began to have some cramping around 10/12 weeks, but was told it was gas related and normal.

Isabelle’s Story

I had a “normal” pregnancy, but it wasn’t very eventful. I never felt pregnant, and I wasn’t getting much of a bump either. I worried constantly about miscarrying, like any expecting mother would. When I reached the second trimester, I thought I was in the clear. When I was 17 wks pregnant, I took a recommended AFP test, to test of any abnormalities(ie downs syndrome). A week later, I received a call from my doctor telling me that my test was showing high levels,

John Kyle’s Story

I didn’t want to get pregnant at first because of the situation that I was in, but it happened. I was so in shock that I had 4 pregnancy test done and they all came out positive. So I accepted it and started to plan. I went to my scheduled doctors appointments and then my mother died. I asked my doctor if it was okay to fly even if the flight was 14 hours, she told me it was fine. At 23 weeks I had my second ultrasound and that’s when I found out I was having a boy.

Joshua’s Story

Hi, my name is April and I am 25 years old. My husband and I lost a child to what they are thinking is ABS on September 28, 2005. I had previously had a miscarriage about 7 years ago, so this pregnancy held more anxiety I suppose. I work in an OB-GYN office so I see all the good and bad that can happen. I had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks just to verify the pregnancy and things were normal. Then around 9 or 10 weeks I had another ultrasound due to a small amount of bleeding and anxiety.
