Ethan was born 3 weeks late and I had to be induced. I gave birth on the 18th of February 2011 at 7:00am at Baines avenue clinic in Harare. I didn’t even notice until they had cleaned him up that he had a missing left foot, with just the heel present. At first I was shocked them dismayed and I was asking God what I had done wrong.
Visiting time was at 10:00 am and my husband and mother-in-law came to see me. I didn’t know how to tell them. To my surprise my mother-in-law unwrapped the child and took off his booties, and lo and behold there was the deformed foot. I cried so much but everyone assured me that it was God’s doing. As a Christian I accepted it and love my son just as much as our other 2 children (older). It took my husband a long time to accept it and sometimes when we quarreled he would even tell me that my womb is cursed that’s why I gave birth to a child with ABS. I think it’s one of the reasons we ended up divorcing.
My problem now is, I cannot afford to take him for a prosthesis. I am now single and my job does not pay me enough to afford it. I am facing problems because now Ethan is 3 years old and if he wears shoes, the one on the left foot just falls off. I love Ethan so much and he is a bright child. can someone please help.

Rose, I suggest searching the internet for 3D printer plans. Someone with a 3D printer could print a prosthetic foot for Ethan. It’s amazing! – http://www.sciencedump.com/content/3d-printed-prosthetic-legs
