We had a 20-week ultrasound done and they found a two vessel cord and we were sent to a specialist to make sure that there was nothing more abnormal that they weren’t seeing. When we saw the specialist they noticed that our little girl’s fingers were not separating and they could not see all the toes on her left foot and no toes on the right. We were told that we just needed to wait until she was born to really determine what was going on as the ultrasounds couldn’t really tell us everything.
Miss Sophia was born on May 24, 2016 at 3:26 am, she was healthy weighing in at 6 pounds 1 ounce. We found out that her one hand had all her fingers webbed together and her right hand has her four fingers webbed together and her thumb was separate though it does have a line on it from where part of the amniotic band was. She has no toes on her right foot and she does on her left but some of them are shorter than the others. She will be having surgery in August to fix the deformities caused by the amniotic band syndrome to her hands which will take two separate surgery’s and a month each after the
She will be having surgery in August to fix the deformities caused by the amniotic band syndrome to her hands which will take two separate surgery’s and a month each after the surgery’s in casts. Her fingers as we are told will be shorter than normal, but she is happy and healthy.
My sons birthday was 4 days before your daughters!
He has surgery December 16.
That’s my birthday!
I am 23 years old and I was born with amniotic band syndrome. I had the surgery to fix my hand and my foot both. I I also have a mark on my left arm where the band was and almost cut off my entire left arm but luckily it did not. Good luck!!
Welcome, Sophia! Good luck with surgery I wish her an easy recovery. I would love to get in touch with you to compare notes, my son was born April 1st and all his limbs are affected by the bands.
I live in Florida , and now a days medical doctors rush your appointments and don’t give you all the information needed, so maybe we can help each other. My email is sunnydale999@yahoo.com . congrats again .Carolina
We are in Texas! =)
Glad surgery is possible for corrections now days. When I was born 73 years ago, no surgery was available. It would have made a big difference in my life.
Thank goodness for progress.
Hello Sophia and congratulations on the promise of a healthy life.
Hi
I was born 61 years ago with ABS. Bands round 3 finger tips, 2 half middle fingers and third of lh pinkie. R foot, bands but ok; L foot half big toe and rest joined at the tips. Managed to play classical guitar to grade 8- because they said I couldn’t do it! I tend to avoid open sandals, but know I should just brazen it out.
Good life, little people- you’ll be fine.
